Itinerary:

DAY 1: Arrival at Stockholm airport. Airport transfer. Check in at hotel. Welcome to the capital city of Sweden!

DAY 2: Stockholm 

Have a relaxed morning and later take the SIC city tour and visit Stockholm City Hall, Sergel Square, Old Town (Gamla Stan – is one of the largest and best-preserved medieval city centers in Europe). Discover Nobel Museum, explore Royal Palace and see changing of guards ceremony. Visit the famous Vasa Museum and get to know about the history of this warship.

Visit Skansen – Skansen is beautifully located on Royal Djurgården and offers spectacular views over all of Stockholm. This is also Sweden in miniature as well as the world's oldest open-air museum. Here you can experience everything from music, dance and traditions to old historical environments and Nordic animals. Skansen features historical environments and buildings from all over the country.

DAY 3: Stockholm to Kiruna by flight 

Airport transfers at both cities. Welcome to the arctic capital city of Swedish Lapland, Kiruna!

DAY 4: Kiruna 

Enjoy the city sightseeing tour. Kiruna is an exciting city to experience and learn more about. Three cultures meet – the Sami, the Swedish and the Finnish, all of which have had an important part in the development of the mining community of Kiruna. We begin the tour from a historical and holistic perspective. If the weather is clear we can see the mountain range that was formed in connection with the collision and gain an understanding of Kiruna as a city. 

The journey continues with a few more stops through Kiruna's old city center where the city transformation is in full swing.

Midnight sun picnic – We travel by minibus and walk about 2-3 km along the mountain Luossavaaras east side. After the path up to the mountain there is much to see and experience in terms of nature (flora, fauna, geology), history of the mine and facts about the future of the city. On the top we have the best view to see the midnight sun, there we enjoy a cup of coffee/tea with light snacks and for dessert a delicious homemade Kiruna Sunset Cake with cream and cloudberries.

DAY 5: Kiruna 

Tour to Icehotel and Jukkasjärvi – Icehotel is a world class destination. It was founded in 1989 and is the original hotel made of ice and snow. It is also Sweden's most unique and probably most extensive private ice art hall. Icehotel 365 accommodates nine Art Suites, nine Deluxe Suites with private bathroom and relax, an ice gallery and Icebar by Icehotel Jukkasjärvi – all created by ice builders and artists from around the world.

Your guide will also take you to the oldest part of Jukkasjärvi where you will hear more about the Kiruna area and about the Sami people. You visit the old church, also called the "Sami church", where the oldest parts are from 1607 and meet the reindeers at Nutti Sami siida, the Sami museum.

DAY 6: Kiruna to Abisko by train 

Take train to Abisko. The village's northern Sámi name Ábeskovvu means "the forest by the great water", where "the great water" refers to Scandinavia's largest mountain lake Torneträsk. During the summer in Swedish Lapland, you will be able to experience the midnight sun – a time when the sun never sets. Perhaps it dips slightly behind the mountains, only to rise again a few minutes later. The light is magical, a kind of warming glow. Imagine having the sun shining high in the sky at midnight, a truly wonderful feeling!

DAY 7: Abisko 

Abisko with its National Park and the famous signature mountain Lapporten is a well-known feature in Swedish Lapland. Admire the scenery along the Abisko National Park. During the tour, we will take a walk along the spectacular canyon, as well as a visit to Silver Fall near Björkliden. For millennia, the area has been home to the Sami who followed herds of wilds between the forest land and the mountains. We enjoy the fantastic view over the mountain Lapporten and the impressive lake, Torneträsk. In Abisko we go down to Abiskojokka, a magnificent canyon with dramatic nature. We continue towards Björkliden and visit one of the biggest waterfalls in Rákkasjohka, the silver falls.

Midnight sun hike – Take the chairlift up to Nuolja and enjoy stunning views of Lapporten, Lake Torneträsk, and the Abisko Alps. From here, several scenic hiking trails begin, allowing you to explore the mountain flora or enjoy the view from the Aurora Sky Station's sun terrace. You will start the short hike to the summit of Mt. Nuolja that sits at 1164 meters above sea level. Along the way we do a few stops where we get time to enjoy the view and listen to the guide that tells us about the history of our surroundings.

DAY 8: Abisko

Day excursion to fjords of Norway – The tour departs by minibus from Abisko and continues west along Torneträsk. We then continue across the Skanderna and cross the Swedish-Norwegian border at Riksgränsen and Björnfjäll before we continue down towards the fjords around Narvik and the Norwegian mountain massifs. During the tour, the landscape changes after each curve from large mountain massifs with longer mountain ridges and rocky plateaus on the Swedish side to increasingly pointed peaks and deeper valleys the closer we travel to the sea on the Norwegian side of the border. During the tour there is the opportunity to see some of the animal life in the North Atlantic. Several kinds of seabirds, sea eagles, seals, porpoises, killer whales and dolphins live in the fjords, so if we are lucky on the trip, we may manage to see some of these.

DAY 9: Departure 

After breakfast, check out from hotel. Private transfer to Kiruna airport. Your Swedish Midnight Sun Adventure ends here!
