3D2N Davos Summer Holiday

Davos is the highest city in Europe and is famous for its variety of sports, leisure and cultural activities, its healing climate, the HC Davos, the Spengler Cup, the Kirchner Museum, the World Economic Forum and the hub of the UNESCO World Heritage “the Landwasser World”.

Originally Davos owes its importance to its healing climate, which has been known for around 150 years. The first guesthouse in Davos to accommodate spa guests opened in 1860. The immigrant German doctor Alexander Spengler created a treatment for lung patients, which mainly involved a lot of sleep on the Davos sun terraces and Veltliner wine. This method made Davos world famous and was also immortalized in the 1924 novel "The Magic Mountain" by Thomas Mann, a famous German writer.

Today Davos is a sophisticated Alpine destination, surrounded by picturesque nature, 3 side valleys, 5 mountain railroads, numerous excursion destinations, various mountain lakes, sports facilities and an infrastructure that cannot be found anywhere else in the Alps.

Day 3: Free Day to explore Davos

Suggested Itinerary (at own cost)

Enjoy the side Valley Sertig and the Davos Lake

9:15 am: Transfer from your hotel to Davos Platz by public bus.

9:31 am: Postbus from Davos Platz (train station) to Sertig Sand. Every half an hour you have a bus connection on both sides.

9:55 am: Arrivla in Sertig Sand (side valley of Davos)

Like all of Davos' side valleys, Sertig is a typical glacier valley with steps and bars. It is a popular tourist destination, especially because of the striking mountains and the waterfall at the back of the valley. That is why it is also considered a particularly
protected region in Switzerland. In the Sertig village at 1,861 m above sea level, the little church "Hinter den Eggen", built in 1699, is worth a visit - popular for weddings and baptisms. At the beginning of August, the traditional Sertigschwinget attracts many onlookers. For a stop, we recommend the Hotel Walserhuus Sertig, at the foot of Mittagshorn, Plattenflue and Hochducan, as well as the two restaurants Bergführer and the Mühle Sertig. You can get to the Sertig valley by car, post bus or horse-drawn carriage.

10.00 am: After taking a selfie at the Davos logo, a short walk to the waterfall. About 30 minutes' walk in a beautiful alpine
landscape.

11:00 am: Visit the waterfall at the end of Sertig Valley.

12:00 am Lunch at restaurant Walserhuus next to the bus station Sertig Sand. This valley is untouched and only farmers are
allowed to live and build houses here. It’s on 1’900 meter above sea level and has already the vegetation of south
Switzerland. The valley was a glacier valley. Nowadays you will find still some glaciers at the end of Ducan valley as well
as end of Chüealp valley. Both valleys start where Sertig valley ends.

14:00 am: Rent your Trotti-bike (Scooter bikes) at Restaurant Walserhuus and ride through the Sertig Valley to the bus station Gadenstatt, beginning of the Sertig Valley. Park your Trotti-bike on the left side at the horse-riding school on the left side before the railroad crossing.

03:00 pm: Bus back from bus station “Gadenstatt” to Davos Dorf “Flüela Kreuzung”. From there a short walk to Davos Lake (15 min.)

4:00 pm: Enjoy the Davos Lake like a local and visit the restaurants Bachi’s Strandbad, rent a pendalo boot or try various water actvities like Stand-up Padeling, Wakeboarding or Sailing or relaxation.
