Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Vientiane – City tour (-/-/-)

Arrival in Wattay Airport, welcomed by our guide and driver, then get transferred to hotel for check in. Rooms are available from 14h00.

We start our city tour by visiting the oldest Wat Sisaket which houses thousands of tiny Buddha images and row after row of seated Buddhas.

Our next destination is Vientiane’s own Victory Monument, which looks like the Arc de Triumph. This was built at the end of the Indochina wars with money rumored to be American and earmarked for the airport’s new runway. This is the departing Americans dubbed this monument the vertical runway! Have a look at the lovely arches inside the monument.

Our final destination is the svelte and golden Pha That Luang, the most important national monument in Laos - a symbol of Buddhist religion and Lao sovereignty. The stupa of this temple is 40m high and covered with gold that can be seen from kilometers away.

Day 2 - Vientiane – Vang Vieng – Kayaking experience (for strong and experienced tourist) (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart early in the morning for Vang Vieng - a riverside town located in Central Laos, surrounded by the karst landscape.

Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, we will drive to the pier and here you will receive some paddling instructions and a safety briefing from our experience guide. Then we will start to paddle down the Nam Song River (3 pax / kayak) with a few small sets of rapids along the way. Visit Tham Nam Cave and learn about its important role during the second Indochina war. The final leg of the journey is a gentle paddle downstream to Vang Vieng where we will arrive in time to catch the sunset. Transfer to hotel for check in.

Day 3 - Vang Vieng – Silver Cliff hiking - Train to Luang Prabang (B)

- We will book the latest timing of the day (afternoon)

- In case that not enough tickets or only available earlier timing, we will have to re-order the program or arrange private transfer – CASE BY CASE and the surcharge will be informed later on spot.

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Phone Ngeun Village, from there you will hike up the trail to the top of Pha Ngeun. Among the most magnificent of Vang Vieng’s geological wonders, Pha Ngeun (Silver Cliff) rises 250 meters high and offers stunning views of Vang Vieng from atop its sheer silver-colored rock face. The 2km-wide cliff looks down on the forests, rice fields, and villages below as well as across the valley to Pha Boua Mountain, but it takes a bit of a climb to reach the peak.

We then depart to the Vang Vieng train station for the train to Luang Prabang. (tour guide accompanies clients)

Day 4 - Luang Prabang – City tour – Kuang Si Falls (B)

After breakfast at the hotel, our tour guide and driver will welcome and escort you to town for the city tour of UNESCO town.

This morning, we will Wat Xieng Thong - Luang Prabang’s the most photographed temple. Located at the end of the peninsula, close to the Mekong River, this temple was built in 1560 by King Setthathirate.

Continue to former Royal Palace, now the National Museum.

Then visit the Vat Sene temple – the oldest and the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang.

Then travelling outskirt of Luang Prabang, driving through green rice paddies and farms. On your arrival at the Kuang Si falls, enjoy main waterfalls with spectacular views and surrounding of orchids inside the park and falls cascade over many calcified tiers and down several hundred feet into a series of cool, turquoise pools.

Optional: We will finish the day by climbing the 328 steps to the top of Mount Phousi to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding countryside. Transfer to hotel for resting. Time at leisure.

Day 5 - Luang Prabang – Round-trip cruise to Pak Ou caves - Baci Ceremony (B)

An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning alms giving ritual to saffron clad monks. This tradition is unique to Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving this procession. Enjoy your UNESCO morning walk to understand insight of this charming town then back to hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the pier where you will cruise to the other side of the Mekong River the village of Ban Xiengmien, a very quiet village where the Kmus and Lao Loums live.

After a walk around the village, go to the pier where you continue your cruise upstream on the mighty Mekong River. Enjoy stunning mountain scenery and witness the simple rural lifestyles. You will reach Pak Ou caves at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers. These caves are displayed hundreds of sacred centuries-old Buddha images which are the object of pilgrimages during the Lao New Year festivities around mid-April.

End of your visit, cruise back and stop at Ban Xang Khong, a weaving village, where you can jump into wooden looms with local expert for practical and experience. Continue to cruise back to town.

To warmly welcome you to the ancient heritage city of Luang Prabang, at the beginning of the evening, we invite you to participate in the Baci ceremony or “Calling of the soul”. The purpose of this Laotian ceremony is to call escaped spirits back to the body, an animist tradition that is very important for Lao people before major events such as weddings, births, travel or when welcoming friends, to bring good luck.

Day 6 - Luang Prabang - Departure (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Time at leisure until the transfer with our guide to airport for the departure flight.
